George Lines to open a new branch in Maidstone

06 November 2024

‘New opening to support growth and community development in Kent’

Lords, a leading distributor of building materials in the UK, is pleased to announce that George Lines, a prominent supplier of civils materials and construction solutions that operates within the Group’s Merchanting division, is scheduled to open its newest branch in Maidstone, Kent in early January 2025.

Located on a 1.4 acre brownfield site within Aylesford Business Park, development of the new George Lines branch is already underway and is on target for being open for trading in January.  It will be the fifth George Lines branch and will provide a comprehensive range of high-quality civil engineering, infrastructure, and construction products to support local contractors, developers, builders and ground workers. Customers in Kent are currently supplied via George Lines’ Heathrow branch, so the location of the new branch will add to the customer experience and reduce transportation times.

The expansion of George Lines’ branch network reflects the Group’s commitment to driving growth in the Civils & Infrastructure sector and its dedication to supporting local communities with reliable, affordable, and sustainable materials. The branch location will offer an extensive selection of products to supply major groundworks, landscaping and civil engineering projects.

Rob Mallion, Managing Director of George Lines, said: “We are thrilled to expand our network and provide our high level of customer services to customers in Kent. The new branch allows us to better serve regional demand for civils construction products, whilst also supporting local jobs and economic growth.”

Steve Durdant-Hollamby, Chief Operating Officer of Lords Merchanting division, said: “The work undertaken on the opening of this new George Lines branch in Maidstone by Jamie Herd and Rob Mallion has been exceptional, especially given the current challenging market conditions.  This expansion into the southeast of England will further drive organic growth in our Merchanting division and positions us well for when the market begins to recover.”
